Little did I know the multiple pockets scenario is a steady feature of poker.com. It happens every time I play and often there's 3 sets of pockets at the same time.

Are you kidding me?
You ran 8-8 into J-J and you call that a bad beat? Running into larger hands is a regular part of the game, if you don't expect to see it or know how to handle it, you should find a different game to play.
